JOANNA OWEN
VP of Marketing
Joanna has been a member of the Owen Appraisal Service team for 20 years. She brought to the team a Bachelors in Business Management Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh. She implements any and all strategies for team building, customer retention, lead generation, brand awareness/reputation and good will efforts.
She has worked for various appraisal management companies before joining Owen Appraisal. Her passion is to give back to her community and those in need, so Joanna is involved in many facets of volunteer work. She lives in the western suburbs of Allegheny County with her husband Bob and puppy.
ROBERT WACHOWIAK
Certified Appraiser
Robert is our longest tenured team member. He joined the firm in 1996 in a support staff role and rose to Trainee and eventually Certified Appraiser. Robert is a lifelong Pittsburgh resident growing up in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Currently, he resides in Wexford with his wife Beth and two daughters: Hailey and Emily. As team member at Owen Appraisal Service each appraiser focuses on a territory and Robert has served the Western Allegheny suburbs and Beaver County. Over the years, Robert has provided customers with the highest level of professionalism and service while handling the heaviest of workloads. He has become a leader on this team.
ROBERT OWEN SRA
President, Owner
Since 1988, Robert Owen has been honing his craft in the Appraisal Industry. A graduate of Duquesne University with a BS/BA degree in Finance, concentration: Real Estate. Over the years, Bob has acquired both Residential and Commercial Appraisal Certifications and has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1990. He has become a respected authority on valuation services and an educator to many real estate salespersons and loan originators. Bob shares a special designation with the best appraisers in the country: SRA Designation.
This level of expertise is the result of years of experience, post-graduate, professional education and testing. An appraiser holding this designation is required to meet stringent ethical requirements and high level continuing education programs which exceed those require for state certification renewal. Over the past 30 +- years, Bob has trained a dozen new entrees to the industry and has become a sought after speaker at real estate and mortgage related events. As a small business owner he has created a customer centric operation with a focus on both the business decision and the appraisal decision. Clients can always rely on a competent and straight answer to both the valuation issue and the service level provided.
ANTHONY OWEN, J.D.
Commercial Division Managing Director
Anthony Owen is the Commercial Division Managing Director at Owen Appraisal Service, LLC. Mr. Owen had previously been engaged with commercial real estate appraisals throughout the entire west coast of the United States at a national appraisal firm. Mr. Owen now proudly serves his hometown Western Pennsylvania region. His scope of competency expands across a broad range of asset types and assignment conditions.
Mr. Owen is currently a certified general appraiser. Prior to entering the appraisal field, Mr. Owen attended Duquesne Law School. In Law School, Mr. Owen was a member of the award-winning Urban Development Law Clinic, which specialized in part in zoning and municipal code issues. This experience has given him a unique outlook on the functionality and detail of various appraisal platforms.
TIMOTHY J. SAKMAR
Certified Appraiser
Tim is a member of our commercial appraisal division. Also a lifelong Pittsburgher, Tim attended South Park High School and University of Pittsburgh. Currently, he resides in Peters Township with his wife Nicole and two daughters: Josie and Ella. For ten years Tim worked the South Hills of Allegheny County and Washington County for the residential division. Tim was instrumental in launching and building the commercial appraisal division at Owen Appraisal Service. Tim Sakmar has been a team member for over 15 years.
LUKE R.G. DOYLE
Certified Appraiser
Luke, also a lifelong Pittsburgher grow up in Moon Township. After Moon High School, Luke attended and graduated from Youngstown State University. Luke is a hard working team member serving an above average volume of work in the West & South Hills suburbs of Allegheny County and Washington County. Like Ryan, he has completed a significant amount of new home construction assignments in his fast growing territory. Luke is a big sports fan and a first time homeowner residing near the office and his childhood neighborhood. Luke has developed a wide ranging experience base from city neighborhoods like the South Side and Mt. Washington to rural communities such as Hickory, Avella, Marianna and Roscoe.

GRANT T. BIRDSONG
Certified Appraiser
Grant is our newest team member, but he brought several years of experience as a licenses real estate sales person. Grant is a graduate of Fox Chapel High School and the University of Pittsburgh. Grant has served and developed an expertise in the Eastern wards and suburbs of Allegheny County and Westmoreland County. Like Luke, Grant has wide ranging experience such as a rapidly developing urban condominium market, Multi-Million Dollar homes in Shadyside to village settings like Latrobe and Scottsdale.
